Scenic Tour - Sept. 19-20, 2009

The Huntington Bicycle Challenge is a two-day event sanctioned by the United States Cycling Federation and sponsored by Three Rivers Velo Sport.
The tour rides are designed for those who want to participate in the bicycle challenge but not at competition level. You may compete in all-day bike events (Scenic Tour) or in shorter events (Saturday Short Course). Download tour entry form.
Your entry includes a t-shirt, access to snack stations, and entry in prize drawings. Anyone may participate in the tour rides, but minors (less than 18 yrs) must have a legal guardian sign in on the minor's behalf.
All rides begin and end at the corner of Jefferson & Market streets (401 N. Jefferson) in downtown Huntington. Dan Henry symbols are used to mark direction of the course. Orange Dan Henries mark the route for Saturday; yellow DHs mark the route for Sunday. On-road bypasses at reservoirs are marked in green. See maps.
Registration opens at 8 AM at 401 N. Jefferson St. A mandatory riders' meeting will be at 8:45 AM. The tour will begin after the race start (approx. 9:15 AM).
Stop-and-Go or "SAG" stations will be set up at various sites along the course and will provide food and beverages for the riders.
Scenic Tour
The Scenic Tour is an on-road ride through the county. The course is 130 miles, approximately 65 miles each day. The Saturday route travels through the southern portion of the county; the Sunday route travels through the northern portion.
The entry fee is $20 for one day or $30 for both days. Add $5 for entries after September 1.
Saturday Short Course Rides
Both short course rides run on Saturday and use the tour entry form. Your entry includes a t-shirt, access to snack stations, and entry in prize drawings. All riders must wear appropriate helmets.
Intermediate Course

Families may participate in the 9-mile Family Ride on Saturday. A family of four is $50, or $55 after September 1. Additional members are $10 each.
The family ride uses a separate 9-mile course that travels east of Huntington. See maps for route details.
Anyone may participate in the tour rides, but minors (less than 18 yrs) must have a legal guardian sign in on the minor's behalf. All riders must wear appropriate helmets.
