Splash on the Wabash

sponsored by Midwest America Federal Credit Union kicks off this summer on July 26th, and you're invited to take part in the festivities. Huntington is our meeting spot for a day of fun and excitement. Come one, come all, bring a guest, and hang loose. This is going to be epic! We will have an inner tube launch in the morning and a downtown bash in the afternoon/evening so make sure you scroll down to read about all of our fun activities.

July 26th Schedule of events:

Inner tube launch
10:00 a.m. - Noon:

Cost: $5 per person (bring your own tube and life jacket)*
Participants must be at least 10 years of age.

*We've past the cutoff date for reserving rental tubes.
Huntington University presents the Inner Tube Launch on the Wabash River – participants will park and be transported via ongoing bus shuttles between 10 a.m. and Noon from the Forks of the Wabash Historic Park to the J. Edward Roush Dam for a fun tube float down the scenic Wabash River (approx. 1 1/2 hours). (DO NOT report directly to the Dam) Be sure to bring some extra money for a post ride snack! There will be hot dogs and ice cream for purchase at the Forks when you return! 
 
Tips for the inner tube ride:
-Park at the Historic Forks 3011 West Park Dr., Huntington
-Registration begins at 10 a.m.- Noon
-You must bring a river or heavy duty inner tube (no kayaks) and a life jacket (required)
-one person per tube
- water shoes or tennis shoes should be worn (no flip flops), some walking will be required
-contact the organizers if you have questions to the durability of your inner tube. 260-359-8687. River conditions require a stronger tube material due to rocks, etc.

Downtown Island Bash:
4-10 p.m.

Activities Downtown Huntington at Jefferson Street Bridge on the Little River (S. Jefferson St., Huntington; follow St. Rd. 5 downtown, cross the railroad track, event will be on the right hand side of the bridge and the adjacent parking lot)

FREE Family activities 4-7 p.m.
Includes hands-on learning booths, games, face painting, bubble activities, a tiki island maze with slides, walk on water balls, and mini paddle boats all with a fun water theme! Your kids may get wet so dress them accordingly! A special treasure map will lead children to each of the educational booths with a special prize from Applebee's for turning in a completed sheet.

FREE Kayak Usage 4-7 p.m.
Take a spin on the river in a kayak! Instructors will be available to help you learn how to use this great mode of transportation.

Festival Food and Drinks 4-10 p.m. (for purchase)
We'll have Prairie Pure Pork serving up grilled specialties. Zesto’s will have frozen ice cream delights. The Coney Cart will be serving up great dogs and Rabb Water will be there to quench your thirst! Brick House Grill will be onsite with a separate adult beverages section with beer and frozen margaritas where you can chill out and listen to the music. The highlight will be a 30” pizza eating contest at 5 p.m. hosted by Jimmy Pop’s Pizza. To sign a team up call Jimmy Pops at 260-200-1154. Don't miss it!

Art Silent Auction – painted rain barrels 4-8 p.m.
Rain barrels are an important part of river conservation and are a great canvas for local artists to showcase their talent. The rain barrels will be displayed downtown prior to the event and a silent auction will allow festival-goers the chance to take home their favorite. The auction closes at 8! Vote for your favorite artist to win People's Choice Award. Just $1 per vote!

FREE Concert – 6-10 p.m.
Welcome to the “Island” in Downtown Huntington! Get ready to dance to the sounds of our musical entertainers, Island Vibe, playing the music of Jimmy Buffet and island style tunes! Guests are welcome to dress in their parrot head attire and to bring a chair or spread out a blanket to relax to enjoy the music with family and friends.
